What are the temperature requirements in the workplace?
The Regulations make provision only for temperatures within buildings. A reasonable temperature must be maintained in workrooms during working hours; the temperature should provide for reasonable comfort without the need for special clothing. Thermometers should be available to enable workers to check workroom temperatures, but they do not have to be provided in each workroom. It should be borne in mind that comfort is also significantly influenced by humidity, radiant heat and ventilation. For this reason simple temperature measurements will not always adequately reflect the environmental conditions.
