We work with the National Institute of Smart Government on research for emerging technologies in e-Governance. The aim is to create solutions and frameworks that focus on optimizing the delivery of government services. Tell us about the ‘People PC’ program run by Microsoft India together with the Government of Uttaranchal? Microsoft and the Government of Uttaranchal jointly launched PCs with Windows XP Starter Edition in Hindi under the government’s ‘Gyanotkarsh’ (People’s PC) program. Under this program, government employees can buy a Windows XP Starter Edition PC at easy installments of Rs. 399 a month over a period of four years. In addition, they also have the option to buy PCs based on other versions of Windows XP and higher-end Intel processors for Rs.527, Rs. 808 and Rs. 1,034.
