What are the technologies that can be used for providing telecommunications services for villages in rural areas?
A number of technologies can be used, among them GSM, CDMA and VSAT. It depends on where your network is located and on the terrain. In some remote areas, only VSAT is possible but it is expensive. There are some villages where weve used GSM. I think CDMA will roll out in a short while. Do you think rural telephony is a burden on the economy of the country? Yes. Thats why I call it an obligation. It needs to be done. The question is who is going to do it.
