Textpattern 4.0.x requires a web server with: • PHP 4.3+ • MySQL 3.23+ • The PHP mysql extensions • The PHP XML extension (included by default in PHP) In addition to the above minimum requirements, we recommend the following: • PHP 4.4.1+ or 5.0.2+, in mod_php or fastcgi mode • MySQL 4.1.7+ • PHP extensions: • mbstring • XML • Zlib • Apache 1.3+ or 2.0+ with mod_rewrite • A Unix server OS with locale support Textpattern probably works on any web server that supports PHP. It is reported to work well on IIS and Lighttpd. Clean URLs are possible on those systems, with the right configuration, but are not officially supported. Experimental support for PostgreSQL is included in the 4.1 development branch. You can help ensure its survival by testing and submitting patches.

A Linux PC, PCI 2.1 compliant, a monitor capable of 640×480, and a 3D accelerator board based on the 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics ™. It will work on a P5 or P6, with or without MMX. The current version does not use MMX, but it has some optimized code paths for P6. At one point, some 3Dfx statements seemed to imply that using Linux Glide required using a RedHat distribution. Note that while Linux Glide has originally been ported in a RedHat 4.1 environment, it has been used and tested with many other Linux distributions, including homebrew, Slackware, and Debian 1.3.1.
