A detailed implementation process is being rolled out for the first cohort of jurisdictions to add CBT to the GED testing program. The solutions for each jurisdiction will be highly customized. Keep in mind that “bandwidth” considerations apply to Internet-based testing only; all GED testing will occur in Official GED Testing Centers. I had our IT director examine the Pearson VUE system requirements to see if we could provide the GED CBT. He tells me that system requirements are Windows XP or later, however the materials also say that the system does not yet support Vista. It seems from the system requirements on the Pearson web site that Pearson VUE requires an operating system that is 10 years out of date. Our IT director said he did not think we could find a computer system that is old enough to run the Pearson software.
