What are the symptoms of mild colic?
These don’t really sound like colic symptoms. It sounds more like she’s ornery or in heat. Colic is usually pretty easy to identify and a horse will be greatly distressed, not just moody. A colicing horse will exhibit signs such as rolling or sitting down like a dog, kicking or biting at the belly, no digestive sounds, pawing at the ground, lying down and standing up repeatedly, unable to pass manure, excessive sweating, lack of appetite (in some cases) and curling up their lip. A horse who only exhibits one or two of these sympomts like pawing could mean your horse is just impatient or bored, not necessarily that she’s colicing. If you are worried about your horse, you should have a vet out to look her over or at the very least phone the vet. The shouldn’t charge you for advice over the phone if you are worried about a bill.
