What are the symptoms of German measles?
The symptoms of German measles can be so slight you miss them entirely. The light rash can come and be gone in a couple of hours or less. It doesn’t cover your body and may be so light as to be unnoticeable. You may have a few slight cold like symptoms. YES you can get it after immunisation – its supposed to lessen the symptoms if you are immunised. A doctor can order a blood test – a rubella titre – to check your level of immunisation. In Australia its a routine test during pregnancy. The problem of course is that German measles is known to cause birth defects so if you are pregnant – avoid anyone even suspected of having German measles. If you think you have got German measles, had it, or been exposed to it, while pregnant – go to the doctor.
