Depends on which part of the ear is affected. If it’s external (that means outside of the tympanus), it’s a LOT of sensibility in the outer ear. Like, barely touching it will cause the sufferer to bout in pain like crazy. It’s treated with ear drops filled with antibiotics for a few days. If treated soon, it’s self contained and not serious. You don’t want it to progress. Chances are your kids have a middle ear infection which is a LOT more serious. Two weeks is quite a lot. An otoscope will easily reveal if the tympanus has inflammation which is obviously a device you can’t buy in the 1 dollar store. Middle ear infections have a lot of pain and can progress to an even more serious inner ear infection if left untreated. Sometimes if you don’t treat it, the membrane will break open suddenly and pus and blood will spill out of the ear. Even if it self heals, the person risks losing some of their hearing, maybe forever. A half decent ear, nose & throat doctor can treat the disease properl
