What Are the Symptoms of a Gallbladder Attack?
What most people refer to as a gallbladder attack is actually acute cholecystitis, an inflammation of the gallbladder that comes on suddenly and causes severe pain in the abdomen. According to the National Institutes of Health, gallstones in the gallbladder cause most cases of acute cholecystitis. Other causes are severe illness and, rarely, cancer of the gallbladder.
