What Are the Symptoms of a Cows Milk Protein Allergy?
A cow’s milk protein allergy is considered by the Mayo Clinic to be one of the most common childhood food-related allergies. Kids Health explains that cow’s milk is divided into to parts: whey and curd. Whey makes up about 20 percent of cow’s milk and curd is the remaining portion. A person can be allergic to whey, or to the protein called casein found in the curd, or to both. Most cow’s milk protein allergy symptoms appear within minutes or up to one hour after ingesting the offending protein. Symptoms range from mild to severe and should be evaluated by an allergist.
