What are the symptoms of a cat that has conjunctivitis?
The most common symptom is redness of the affected eye or eyes, which may be accompanied by swelling and tearing. Cats with conjunctivitis tend to squint, keeping the eye half closed. The third eyelid may be raised so the bottom half of the eye is not visible. Conjunctivitis is painful to the cat and it may rub its eye or eyes. There may be a discharge from the involved eye ranging from clear to a thick greenish color. The conjunctivitis may be associated with other respiratory symptoms, most generally sneezing. Cats with conjunctivitis may only some of these symptoms. What are some other eye problems that may look like conjunctivitis? An eye injury, blocked tear ducts, or a foreign object in the eye area all may look similar to conjunctivitis.
