What are the Symptoms and Signs of Acute Pericarditis?
Chest Pain Sharp chest pain in the center or left side of the chest, sometimes radiating to the left shoulder, arm, or neck, is the most common symptom of acute pericarditis. This pain differs from the pain associated with angina because it is aggravated by coughing, inhaling, or changing position (lying down). And it may be relieved to some degree by sitting up or leaning forward. Less common symptoms of acute pericarditis are dull chest pain and low-grade fever.
