What are the surgical and postoperative risks?
Risks include, but are not limited to: death, injury to spleen, hemorrhage, pneumonia, heart attack, blood clots, stroke, hypoproteinemia, edema, incisional hernia, hair loss, staple line obstruction or disruption, bowel obstruction, peptic ulcer disease, kidney stones, complications associated with a blood transfusion which may be needed and other unknown complications which could develop. There is less than 1% chance of death following weight loss sugery.
