I am very reluctant to go that route but am unsure how to tell if my eel is suffering and if so, what the ethical thing to do is. Some days he seems to be getting better, other days he has his head crammed under the underside of a rock and is on his side. I just ran home and he’s breathing regularly and is sticking halfway out his PVC pipe, just hanging out. I turned off all aquarium lights thinking the dark might help minimize stress as well.
