What are the steps to become fully licensed in school library media?
• Complete at least two years classroom teaching experience • Complete the approved program including a practicum • Complete a graduate degree (e.g. Master’s of Curriculum and Instruction) • Pass the Praxis II for school library media with a minimum score of 630 • Apply for a conditional license • Complete a performance assessment (two semesters of supervised internship while in the school specialist position at least .5 FTE) during the conditional license period • Apply for a professional school specialist license What if I cant meet those requirements, but I have a job offer? A provisional license is available for library media specialists when 50% of the program is completed AND the applicant is hired in that position AND holds a Five Year Kansas Professional Teaching License.
