Mitosis has these major steps – the first is Prophase (DNA organization), the second is Metaphase (the lining up of chromosomes), the third is Anaphase (Centrioles pull the chromosomes to each side for division), and then Telophase (the final separation of and copying of chromosomes to equal 46 again).
