What are the steps involved for a teenager to get a California Drivers License?
A. California has a specific sequence of steps for new drivers under 18: • The first step is to enroll in Drivers Education, which is possible as early as age 15 but not recommended before 15 years and 4 months. Drivers Education is available either as a classroom (Parkway Bowl every Saturday 8:45-4:15; involves 4 Saturdays in a row) or online for home study (contact our Office for online program details). • When Drivers Education is finished, a DMV Certificate of Completion is issued. • The Student must enroll in Behind-the-Wheel Drivers Training and pay for at least the first lesson (of 3) to receive the required DMV Certificate of Enrollment. • When a Student is at least 15 ½ AND has BOTH Certificates above, they may take the 46-question written test at any DMV. Proof of identification and a vision test are required, and a photograph and thumb print will be taken at this time. Students get 3 chances to pass the written test, with a minimum 1-week period between attempts. • Successfu
