To become a zoologist (scientist that studies animals): In high school, take college prep courses. Keep your grades at least in the A/B range, and make sure to take plenty of math and science courses, including biology, chemistry, physics, and calculus. Also make sure to get decent scores on the SAT and/or ACT tests. If you can afford to volunteer instead of taking a paying job in high school, it might also be a good idea to do some research with a local college starting in your junior year. Look up the research local professors are doing on the websites of your local colleges or universities, then contact professors that are conducting work you’re interested in and ask if you can get involved in their research projects. Most will say yes :-). For your undergraduate degree, get a four-year degree in biology, zoology, ecology, wildlife management, or the like.
