A. The STAT settings are the way you configure the COM or communications port on an N82 or N83. This is doen by typing a six character code. An example would be as follows. 8N81XS |||||| 123456 Each character represents a specific parameter for the COM (RS-232 COMmunications port on the back of the N82 and N83. The N83 added parameters for the optional internal modem that I do not have.
