The Act does not define the standards that would be used to assess an application in respect of the five relevant criteria. There are a number of different codes of practice developed nationally that deal with issues relating to the five criteria. Specially, there are codes of practice relating to biosecurity and animal welfare in the poultry industry. There are also national egg labelling standards approved by the Primary Industries Ministerial Council (PIMC). There is also a draft Tasmanian Code of Practice, this and those other codes that are in circulation would establish the required standards which programs would need to meet in order to be approved.
