The high histologic quality of the frozen sections allows precise and rapid microscopic evaluation. The CryoHist can routinely freeze fatty breast tissue to appropriate temperatures for cutting frozen sections. Using the “orange peel” method, selected lumpectomy surface area margins can be rapidly assessed in a standardized fashion. The CryoHist and appropriate cryostat can routinely cut large frozen sections requiring 75 x 50 x 1 mm. glass slides.
