What are the sources of omega-3 fatty acids?
ALA are found in plant sources such as soybeans, canola oil, and nuts. EPA and DHA are found in fish and fish oils. Of the three different types of omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA are most likely to have a protective effect on the heart. Foods rich in EPA and DHA include fatty or oily fish such as mackerel, sardines, lake trout, albacore tuna, herring and salmon.
