What are the smoking laws in Detroit?
Michigan’s statewide smoking ban will go into effect in May 2010. The ban applies to all bars, restaurants and workplaces; exceptions have been made for cigar bars, tobacco specialty stores, home offices, motor vehicles and three Detroit casinos. This ban is believed to affect even outdoor seating areas at restaurants such as the ones at the Fairlane Mall near the AG. The Hyatt and DoubleTree will be fully nonsmoking by the time of the AG, and the Ritz-Carlton is already fully nonsmoking. Any smoking will have to be done outside the AG hotels.
