Finney will close at the end of the school year, and design and construction of a new Finney High will begin in the fall. Those students will be bused to McNair Middle School during construction. The new schools slated for closure are: Brewer Elementary, Munger Elementary, Erma Henderson Lower School, Birney Elementary, Stark School of Technology and Winterhalter Elementary. The building that houses Marcus Garvey Academy will close and the program will move to Butzel Elementary’s campus. Five programs will be spared: Columbus Middle, Durfee Elementary, McNair Middle as well as Westside Alternative and Longfellow Annex, which were slated to move. Last month, Bobb said he planned to close 23 schools, including Chadsey High School and Guyton Elementary, which had been on the closure list before.
