What are the situations of arranging a trip to Tibet from Nepal?
You can arrange a trip from Nepal to Tibet and then China, but the big problem is, you can only get a visa of around 21 days, it’s not possible to extend this visa in China right now. When you enter Tibet from Nepal, you can only get a so-called “group visa”. A group visa is actually an A4-sized paper with a list of members’ names. A group can be composed of one or two people only, and you have to enter and leave the country together with all the members on the list. The group visa has a serious limitation, it’s probably valid for only 21 days or even shorter, this visa is not possible to be extended anywhere in China, not in Kunming, Leshan, Chengdu or Xining in 2009. If you read somewhere else that this group visa was extendable, it was probably in 2007 or early 2008.
