What are the similarities and differences between 3rd and 4th grade?
First of all, I hope you will find comfort in some familiar textbooks and terms. In Fourth Grade, we still use D’Nealian handwriting and you are required to use cursive handwriting in everything except note-taking, rough drafts, and math problems. Speaking of note-taking, we will be talking about effective note-taking and practicing that skill in each subject. In Spelling, we will continue practicing Priority Words (which should ALWAYS be spelled correctly) while previewing/reviewing new 4th Grade Core Words. You will have Spelling Homework each week to practice spelling correctly. In Language Arts, we will read from the “Signatures” anthology series and from our classroom novel selections. We also have an extensive Classroom Library from which you may choose books of various genres and at different levels.
