Signs and symptoms of pink eye may include red irritated eyes that can form a dried mucous on the eyelashes, sensitivity to light, scratchy feeling, swollen eyelids and itching. Incubation period* is usually 1 to 3 days, but could be up to 12 days. Your doctor should be contacted for diagnosis and treatment. If you child has confirmed pink eye, they may return to school after 24 hours of treatment. * Incubation period means the time required for the disease to appear after exposure.
