What Are the Signs & Symptoms of Cystic Fibrosis?
Cystic fibrosis is a life-threatening disease that causes lung, pancreas, liver, intestine and sinus damage, and it prevents the body from being properly nourished by blocking the tubes and vessels throughout the body. This disease is genetic, although the parents don’t have to have the disease. The normally thin secretions of saliva, sweat and mucus are thick in those with cystic fibrosis. Due to their thickness, these secretions plug the passageways in organs, particularly the pancreas and lungs. The most dangerous effect of this disease is respiratory failure and preventing the body from absorbing the vital nutrients.
