What are the signs of good elimination?
1. Stool Color: The stool should be walnut brown in color and if you eat something like beets or dark green vegetables, you may experience temporary discoloration. 2. Consistency and Length: The stool should have a consistency similar to toothpaste and the minimum length of a banana. Please note that the colon is about 5 – 6 feet long and the longer the length of the fecal matter that is removed the better. Many people produce small, hard, pellet like fecal matter and this reveals a poor state in the colon and insufficient intake of water is a key factor to improve the consistency and length of the stool. 3. Frequency: At minimum, one should have one good long bowel movement per day, but 2 to 3 is ideal. 4. Gas and Odor: Gas is the natural by-product of digestion, but an abundance of gas is not normal. This can be a sign that the individual needs probiotic. 5. Sink or Float: A normal healthy stool should leave the body easily, settle in the water and gently submerge.
