What are the signs of emotional immaturity in the work place?
The worst one is when people bring their personal lives into the workplace i.e. crying about what happened with their boyfriend or girlfriend last night. I put up with this behaviour for decades. They don’t care about the job they are supposed to be doing – they just want to go on and on about their relationship problems (and I’m not singling out women here, men do it as well). Drives me nuts. That’s not what we are at work for – to just stand around and gossip. And gossip is a killer and also immature and unprofessional. If a person (like me) – doesn’t join in the gossip chain/grapevine, I get targeted and the gossipers start gossiping about all they know about me. I will go on to say that unfortunately, sometimes women can go a little further than men. They ‘turn on the waterworks’ to get desired shifts “I have to take care of my baby, so I need the day shift even though I just started working here”, etc. That means that even though I have been there for decades, I get ‘demoted’ back
