Unlike other animals, like dogs that go into heat to signify they’re ready to breed, birds will only breed if the conditions are correct and the pair is bonded to one another. A cockatiel should be at least 1 to 1 & 1/2 years of age before breeding. Birds will also be more likely to breed in the spring and summer (when food would be most plentiful in the wild).
