Long term side effects inlcude excessive hair growth, weakening of the bones, acne, and overgrown gums. After several years, it is possible to damage nerves in the legs; there is also possible damage to the cerebellum, which is usually not severe enough to make an impact. These symptoms are most common in people with a high dosage level of Dilantin.
