What are the side effects to being bulimic?
Being under-weight/skinny is not a sign of being bulimic. Purging does NOT prevent weight gain Contrary to popular belief, purging isn’t very effective at getting rid of calories, which is why most bulimics end up gaining weight over time. Laxatives and diuretics are even less effective. Laxatives get rid of only 10% of the calories eaten, and diuretics do nothing at all. You may weigh less after taking them, but that lower number on the scale is due to water loss, not true weight loss. To be officialy diagnosed with Bulimia you have to binge and purge 3 times a week +, every week for at least 3 months. Some of the side effects will already be there: smelling of sick etc. After about a months or so you begin to get cuts of your fingers/knuckles if that’s how you make yourself sick. Dentists are
