What are the side effects of stopping methadone?
Methadone withdrawal is long and uncomfortable, and I would recommend medical support, you need to tell a doctor and let them help you. I have been on methadone for 5 years, and I have swallowing difficulties too. I’ve had an EGD, where they look down your throat with a scope. Nothing was wrong, and since I had equal trouble swallowing solid food and liquids, they told me I had a problem with the esophageal muscles coordinating swallowing, meaning there was not much they could do for me. If you read ALL the side effects of methadone, in a Physician’s Desk Reference, it does mention muscle problems. Although this is my opinion only, but I never had trouble swallowing before the methadone.
