What are the side effects of MUSE?
MUSE was well tolerated in the clinical trials with the most common side effects of MUSE during home treatment being penile pain (32 percent) and urethral burning (12 percent). Minor urethral bleeding occurred in approximately 5 percent of patients. Prolonged erection or priapism (erection lasting longer than six hours) may occur; one case of priapism was reported during the clinical trials. During the in-clinic administration of MUSE, hypotension was observed in 3 percent of patients and dizziness in 4 percent; syncope was reported by 0.4 percent. Vaginal itching or burning was reported in 5.8 percent of partners.
