In patients treated for hyperactive thyroid, thyroid gland may turn to be hypoactive following the radioactive iodine therapy and hypoactive thyroid symptoms such as; changes in menstruation period, disorientation of movement, dry and swollen skin, headache, muscle pain may be seen. Moreover, rarely; hyperhydrosis, fever, inccreased heart rate, anxiety, and weakness may be experienced. After the treatment of thyroid cancers, symptoms such as change in stool color, blood in urine or stool, cough, fever or tremor, back pain, painful urination, redness of skin, abnormal bleeding or bruises may occur. If the above mentioned side effects are not tolerated or unexpected negative effects are seen, immediately refer to your physician.
