What are the side effects of Mirapex?
The most common side effects of Mirapex are nausea, dizziness, sleepiness, constipation, hallucinations, insomnia, muscle weakness, confusion, and abnormal movements. Dopamine agonists, including Mirapex, can also cause blood pressure to fall suddenly when a person on the medication stands up from sitting, a condition known as orthostatic hypotension. Orthostatic hypotension can cause dizziness, falling, or fainting depending on the extent that blood pressure is lowered. Mirapex can also cause generalized symptoms of hypotension, including drowsiness and syncope. Patients taking Mirapex should be carefully monitored for symptoms of hypotension, especially if the dosage is changed, and make sure to tell their doctor about other medications they are taking that can cause hypotension. Mirapex can also cause or worsen pre-existing dyskinesia, a condition in which people develop involuntary movements such as twitching, twisting, and writhing.
