From one cancer patient to another, my first piece of advice is don’t get yourself worked up. I was stressed out when I had my first chemo session too, but being scared isn’t going to make you live one moment longer than you’re supposed to! People who have not faced their own mortality will never understand this, but the only sure thing in life is the fact that you will eventually die. And I’m not saying that to scare you worse! The treatments available are very effective and, if I can go thru chemo and still be here now in remission, so can you! Chemo sucks! It’s no picnic for sure! But, it works in many cancer diagnoses. It is given in both pill form and IV form. Mine was IV and, if yours is too, I highly recommend asking for a Power Port, which is a surgically implanted device put in your chest to be able to give you the chemo without blowing out the veins in your arms.
