What are the schools GCSE exam results like?
There were some excellent individual results in last years Year 11 (2007/2008). Indeed, the results were the best for many years, with 47% of children obtaining at least five passes at C grade or above, also, 9% of grades where at A or A* and 51% of grades where at C grade or above. We are delighted with the achievements of our students and we are again anticipating good overall results next from our current Year 11 who are being examined in 2009 Why can the exam results from a small school vary?. Imagine a year group with only one student in it. If the child does well, the school gets a 100% pass rate. If a child does not do well, the school gets a 0% pass rate. So, the more children, the less volatile the results are likely to be. The whole thing is on a sliding scale. It’s like opinion polls, surveys and questionnaires, the more people there are involved, the more the results can be trusted as being representative.
