What are the sanctions that ADB can impose on private sector actors?
Actions that may be taken by the IOC with regard to private individuals or entities are: • Reprimands: warnings to the subject(s) of investigation, which does not directly infringe upon the possibility of engaging in ADB-financed activities. • Sanctions: declaration that the subject(s) of investigation is/are not eligible to participate in ADB-financed activities for a certain period. This is also referred to as “debarment”. For firms, this period can range from 1 to 7 years. For individuals, the period of debarment can range from 1 year to indefinite.
