What Are the Salary Prospects for a Paralegal?
Before beginning a discussion on a paralegal’s salary, it is important to remember that the level of salary a paralegal receives varies depending much on the following factors: • Your level of education and training • The amount of experience you have as a paralegal (or related law experience) • What type of employer you have • How large your employer is • The geographic location you work in These factors are important because entry-level paralegals need to realize they may not earn as much in a small town as they would earn in a large metropolitan area. Also, larger law firms tend to pay out more money to their paralegals than smaller law firms that handle fewer cases. With that in mind, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has tracked the average annual earnings of full-time paralegals, including their bonuses, to be $43,040. This number for average earnings was tallied in May of 2006 and takes into account hourly and salaried paralegals. This means the middle 50 percent of all parale
