What are the salary and job prospects for the future?
According to the ADA’s 1995 Membership Database, 63% of entry level registered dietitians, who have been employed as RDs full-time for one to five years earn $25,000-$35,000 per year and 24% earn between $35,000-$45,000. Salaries and fees vary by region, employment settings, scope of responsibility, and supply of RDs. Many RDs, particularly those in private practice, business, and consulting earn incomes above $50,000. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of RDs is expected to grow about as fast as the average of all occupations with faster growth anticipated in nursing homes, residential care facilities, and physicians clinics.
