What are the rules of sudoku?
The rules of sudoku are quite straightforward, and this makes it easy to grasp and start playing. You are presented with a grid that has some cells already filled with a number, whilst most cells are empty. The rules of the puzzle are simple: fill the grid with the numbers 1 – 9 in such a way that: – each row, each column and each 3 x 3 box contains the numbers from 1 – 9 once and once only. Note that if the dimensions of the puzzle are different, e.g. 6 x 6, then of course it is the numbers 1 – 6 that must be placed once only. A valid sudoku puzzle has one unique solution that can be reached through using logic alone and no need to guess.
