What are the rules for stream buffers? Does the size of the stream affect buffer regulations?

0

In general, buffer zones must confine visible siltation within the first 25% of the buffer nearest the land disturbing activity, but the Neuse and Tar-Pamlico River basins have special, 50-foot buffer rules on all USGS topography map “Blue Line” streams. The size of the stream does not affect the buffer regulations but if the stream has been designated a trout stream by Division of Water Quality, then there must be a 25-foot buffer.
