What are the rules for returning the security deposit?

0

On termination of the tenancy, money held by the landlord as security may be applied to any of the possible uses above if needed. If the money is not applied to those uses, it must be returned to the tenant. In either case, the landlord must itemize any damage and mail his/her itemized list along with the balance of the security deposit to the tenant within 30 days of the termination of the tenancy. If the landlord does not know the tenants address, he must hold onto the security deposit for six months for collection by the tenant.
