What are the rules concerning repeats? Is it okay to observe or to ignore the repeat signs?
Unless otherwise indicated on the repertoire list, we allow the teacher and student to make decisions regarding repeats based on their tastes. As a general guideline, shorter repeats should be taken, whereas a longer one (i. e. one that nearly doubles the performance time) should be avoided. A judge who does not agree with your decision may point this out in their comments but will not penalize the student. Please note that da capo, dal segno, and the like MUST be observed (unless otherwise indicated).
