What are the roles of the LGA and LACORS as regards the Act?

0

LACORS has supported the lobbying work which the LGA has carried-out in relation to the Licensing Act. Lobbying has focussed on a number of key items, with one of the main concerns being the setting of national fees. Whilst the Government has stated that the fees set will ensure the system is self-funding, the LGA’s research does not show this to be the case. The LGA and LACORS have also been involved in various Government working groups on both the Bill and the Act, providing input from the local authority perspective and a mechanism for central communication with Government. LACORS will continue to provide advice and guidance to local authorities throughout transition so as to try to ensure that the process is as smooth and effective as possible, encouraging shared good practice amongst colleagues.
