What are the roles of agriculture in world upliftment?
I would think that the curious one would know that upliftment is a much used word, even if it is not in the spell check dictionary, just Google it. In a developing country increasing agriculture is the first step in helping a struggling country to it’s feet. To paraphrase a famous saying, “Give me a bowl of rice and I’ll eat for a day. Teach me to grow rice and I’ll eat for the rest of my life.” From the hunting and gathering days when finding food took nearly all of man’s time, the advancement of agriculture has freed people from constantly seeking food so they can go on to be doctors, engineers, etc. In modern society agriculture and having enough food to eat is often taken for granted. It’s easier to see the role of agriculture when it fails and people go hungry.
