What are the Roark Equation and External Pressure Test (EPT) about?

0

The Roark Equation is the UL specified formula for calculating the minimum steel thickness of the tank’s primary (inner) shell. The EPT is an optional performance test to validate an interior (primary) tank stiffener system. The primary tank shell thickness may be reduced a maximum of 25 % from the calculated Roark Equation thickness if the stiffener system has been UL PerformanceTested and Listed. Plasteel International Inc. has a UL Tested and Listed Stiffener System. With the UL Stiffener System, Plasteel® Tanks will not buckle when submerged, without backfill, in water at a depth of 5 feet (1.53m). Consult the Plasteel® Tank manufacturer regarding the stiffener design for your Plasteel® Tanks.
