What are the risks of using Morphine?
Respiratory depression, constipation, nausea, urinary retention, itching, mental confusion… those are the common side effects. The respiratory depression can kill you. Over time, you build up a tolerance to the effects of morphine, but not to the side effects. Morphine is NOT used to treat mental illness. We sometimes use it as a sedative in anesthesia, but there are better drugs for that. A qualified psychiatrist can treat your anxiety and depression with better medications that are less risky. Therapy in addition to medication will give you the best results. Morphine is very addictive, and is a controlled substance. Buying, possessing or taking it without a valid prescription can = jail time.
